The University Eye Center (UEC) is seeking enthusiastic, customer-focused professionals to join our team as Customer Service Representatives in our Call Center. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for our patients, creating a welcoming, positive experience and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Working collaboratively with providers and staff, you will serve as a liaison between patients, UEC departments, and external healthcare organizations. You will assist patients by scheduling appointments, completing patient registration, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, and responding to patient inquiries. You will also support patient portal enrollment and accurately document patient interactions and demographic information in the NextGen Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) systems.
Additional responsibilities include verifying and communicating patients’ vision and medical insurance benefits and providing information about UEC services and programs. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering compassionate, timely, and professional service.
This position requires regular on-site attendance at the University Eye Center. Remote work is not available for this role.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare, hospitality, call center, or other client service environments.
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays.
- Ability to work onsite.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of managed care, insurance verification, authorizations, and third-party payers.
- Experience with Practice Management (PM) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, preferably NextGen.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or bilingual proficiency.
Schedule:
- Tuesday–Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
